The gospel is offensive and will always be so to some. That doesn’t mean we should go out of our way to be offensive but we should not be surprised when people get offended. When we preach Christ crucified. The bottom line is that this is why Credo Dominus Motorcycle Ministry exists.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:18

I have been a biker all my life and have been a Christian for more than half of my life but used to be a Christian with very poor theology. Through not being discipled. Bouncing from pillar to post for quite a long time, from new thing to new thing in whatever church I was in and whatever group I was associated with. I did a lot of damage along the way both in spiritual discussions and in my personal life. I was constantly at odds with myself.

When reading the bible it was not corresponding with what people were saying around me. Unfortunately due to my lack of biblical discipline and following the example of others. I tried to bend scripture to suit the flavour of the day or my own desires. This is called eisegesis, making scripture say what you want it to, injecting meaning into the bible that isn’t there.

Fortunately this was only for a season, a long season but a season non the less, I kept reading scripture and ultimately it led me to seek discipleship which gave me a course correction from eisegesis to exegesis.

Eisegesis literally means “to lead into”, as in “leading our own ideas into the text”. The opposite is “exegesis”, which means “to draw out”. So eisegesis is when we “read something into” a biblical text that may not actually be there. And exegesis is when we try to “draw out” of the text what is actually there.

So why Credo Dominus?

I am well aware that there are a few Christian motorcycle groups out there but I have yet to find one at least in the UK, with completely sound theology or with a focus on evangelism. That’s not to say they are doing anything bad but in my opinion they are falling short of what God commands of us as Christians. To go out and make disciples. I have heard the same line again and again, “we don’t preach the gospel at everyone because it offends some people”. Instead they seek to build friendships and introduce the gospel gently if at all. That can be done but it is not the model we have in the bible. We are commanded to preach the gospel boldly, to not be ashamed of it. Don’t forget that for some the gospel is offensive and always will be.

But even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in much conflict.

1 Thessalonians 2:2

And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Acts 4:31

My goal with Credo Dominus Motorcycle Ministry is to preach the gospel to everyone with boldness, seeking to make disciples properly equipped with the truth of the scriptures. When I say the truth of the scriptures, I am talking about sound theology. What is in the scriptures and not what we would like to be in there. The Scripture is always trustworthy so we don’t need to add to it. That’s why the gospel is offensive. With Credo Dominus Motorcycle Ministry you won’t find a broad church with many different views on the same thing. You will hear the unabridged gospel according to the bible. You will be able to go to the bible and read the same thing there. Check what the bible says and if the bible says something different. Then the evangelist is wrong.
